About the City

Gonesse is a commune in the northeastern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located 16.5 km from the centre of Paris, immediately north of Le Bourget Airport and southwest of Charles de Gaulle International Airport. It is part of the Val-d’Oise department and the Ile-de-France region.

The commune is mostly a balance between an urban settlement and a wild garden. Although it offers the same commodities as any other town, Gonesse is more suited for those who can appreciate nature at its best.

Gonesse is 10 min from the Stade de France, 5 min from Villepinte and Le Bourget and 15 km from the Parc Asterix. To get to Gonesse the easiest way is to get to Paris first and then head for Gonesse.

The Town of Gonesse may be small, but its inhabitants really know the meaning of the word party. Although not very famous for their nightlife style, the locals can throw a great bash as the Ephemeres Gardens fest proves.

Not much can be said about the dining experience in Gonesse, except it’s somewhat varied. The predominant cuisine is of course the French one, but you can also get a little taste of the Asian one as well.

History and Civilization

Even before Gonesse appeared in 832, under the name Gaunissa, there was already a human settlement in these places in prehistoric times. The archeological findings attest to the continued presence of a habitat through the Neolithic, Iron Age, the Gallo-Roman era and the Middle Ages, until the present day.
